Chaise Surpil cafe chair - black & chrome

by: DCW Editions

Description: Surpil Chair SL10 is by French designer Julien-Henri Porche and dates back to 1928. His aim was to develop a new kind of simple metal furniture intended for use in public spaces such as restaurants, cafes and public areas. The products had to be stylish, tough and stackable so as to minimise the footprint when stored. Porche was the first Frenchman to pioneer the use of the steel tube in 1928 and the Surpil was quickly acclaimed as a design classic.

The chairs have earned their place in the history books of European furniture and have been installed in countless bars and restaurants in Paris, the Ministry of Marine, place de Concorde and in the headquarters of the French Communist Party.
